A Next Step Into the Future
Masdar is the next step into the
future. Their contribution could make up 7 percent of the total power coming
from renewable sources. The gulf isn't really known for their strong winds
that's why the turbine makers have developed new technologies to overcome this
problem. Mubadala are owners of Masdar. There are two major project being
built, Shams1 and Nour1. Masdar is evaluating the site beside the Saudi border
because it seems that it has stronger winds, which is what Masdar is looking
for. A single wind power plant installed cost $2m which produces 1
megawatt.
